    rafael (Thursday, 10 June 2010 18:29)

Would Albert Pujols be unfeasible? I'm sure he'll be great in the aftermarket and I wouldn't have a problem spending a few hundred for his signature! Same goes for Kareem, Shaq, Peyton Manning, Ken Griffey Jr, and AROD!

    Andrew Denina (Thursday, 15 July 2010 21:57)

Is it possible to maybe get some NHL stars in there (more likely from the Anaheim Ducks or the L.A. Kings)? But yeah, I agree with what someone else said, would be really cool to get Evan Longoria in there since he's practically from the area originally.

  • #56

    David (Friday, 16 July 2010 16:57)

Aaron Rodgers - I think he lives in San Diego during the offseason; Brandon Jennings (from Compton; Blake Griffin (again) - I missed his signing last time. And of course -- Kobe!

  • #70

    Luke (Thursday, 05 August 2010 15:13)

Is it possible or out of the question to bring in players such as John Elway, Joe Montana, Dan Marino, Troy Aikman, Magic Johnson, Kareem, Howie Long, Kirk Gibson, Tori Hunter, Jarred Weaver, Jim Plunkett, Steve Young, Jerry Rice, or Randy Moss?

  • #71

For baseball....Evan Longoria or Jared Weaver.

and basketball....Dwyane Wade or Chris Paul.

  • #73

    Sports Integrity (Monday, 09 August 2010 12:14)

HI all and hope all is well. Here is a long reply to address some of the above posts....

Ryan - working on both but nothing yet. The minute I have news I will post - Thanks for your interest.

Luke - to be upfront, those players will most like never happen for many reasons.

Eduardo - Im concerned about football players there in HB. I cant bring in some of these guys and have small amounts of people show up. That would be detrimental like the Warren Sapp. Im just not sure its a place to bring in football players - Anyone have a different opinion??

    - We WILL DO JAMES WORTHY THIS YEAR FOR SURE

    - Working on Artest, Jim Brown, Pau Gasol

    - RICK FOX is not interested as well as Jerry West

    - kobe is impossible he is under contract with panini

-Koufax, Manny Ramirez not possible as well as others like elway etc

  • #74

    Humberto (Tuesday, 10 August 2010 01:27)

Like Luke and Eduardo, I prefer football players. Interested in Rams players from the 70's on. Plunkett would be great, Faulk, Warner, Bruce. There's still a large following for the rams in SoCal, would love to see a show like that, even a Ram Raider Show.

  • #75

    SGD (Tuesday, 10 August 2010 17:07)

All hope is on Ron Ron and Pau. I know last time I was in, Ron Ron was not looking good.

I think football is viable in HB but it needs to be top flight guys, like Drew Brees/Montana/Rice/Emmitt Smith plenty of HOFers hitting the auto circuit. Not Warren Sapp who has no ties to the area that nobody cares about. A season or two in Oakland doesn't make him a local guy.

Costly examples, I know, but I am STILL of the opinion that the premium market especially in OC is alive and well if premium athletes are willing to do public/private signings. Don't be scared to do a premium signing. Worst case scenario, the inventory gets sent to the local market where it will sell.

I'd still personally like to see more NBA. With All Star Weekend in LA this season, I am hoping for big things from you guys.

  • #76

    sean (Tuesday, 10 August 2010 17:23)

i went to the sapp signing, and would go again for other raider greats

  • #77

    Humberto (Tuesday, 10 August 2010 23:26)

It's also about timing. Until this last year I would drop about 2,000 a year on Shows. I just bought a house this year so all my money went towards furnishing it.
It's been said that Shows do not do well in SoCal because people refuse to spend the money. Most successful shows are in the east, The exception to this is the GTSM Shows in San Jose, they do pretty good and have really brought in some top names. If the players are good enough, people will attend the shows and drop the coin. I missed Sapp, and would have happily paid his $100.00 plus for a jersey and Helmet signature. I know he's not local, but he's a HOFer and these are the guys I try to get.
Perhaps if you can draft a list of players you can get then we can voice our opinion on who we would most like to see.

  • #78

    Sergio (Thursday, 12 August 2010 19:10)

I agree with Humberto. We have money and are willing to spend it, but if you keep bringing in players just because they are willing to do a signing then you get a weak turn out. Hall of Fame Sports is doing Magic Johnson and they are local why can't you bring in SUPERSTARS? I love the Pau Gasol idea, but that's all it is so far!

  • #79

    Magiclaker (Sunday, 15 August 2010 06:05)

Sports Integrity and The UD STORE are doing a great job. Hall of Fame Sports is cool, but the UD Store and Sports Integrity have brought players that we have mentioned, as well as others. But us autograph junkies are well taken care of by these guys and we should appreciate their efforts. When was the last time that Hall of fame sports asked anyone who they would like to appear for signings? Guys any update on Gasol? Are Brian Shaw, Derek Fisher, The Machine, Steve Blake, Matt Barnes, Artest, or Michael Cooper available? Keep it going guys!!!!!!

  • #80

    Sergio (Monday, 16 August 2010 00:11)

Magiclaker, read this! HOF Sports has brought Barry Sanders, Joe Montana, Reggie Bush, Magic Johnson, Reggie Jackson, Kemp, Billingsley, Gagne, Kirk Gibson, Leinart, Marcus Allen, Jerry Rice, and Steve Young just to name a few! I'm just saying if they can do it then why can't Sports Integrity? UD also should have plenty of resources, why can't they? Money is tight right now, but I'm willing to spend a couple of hundred, I just want top talent for top dollar. After all I'm the customer right? I agree, UD and SI are doing a great job, but lately we've been talking about the same amateur players over and over!!!

  • #81

    jibojnes (Monday, 16 August 2010 15:56)

Any chance for some hockey players?

  • #82

    Magiclaker (Monday, 16 August 2010 16:36)

Sergio, I understand what you are saying. I know Chris Weber from HOF sports and he is a great guy that brings in many big names and stars. But, he has had relationships with these players for years, as well as being a savvy businessman. Sports Integrity has written in this blog many times why some players are not available. Money, resale ability, and the overall cost of them paying the player to sign and show up have to be considered. Just because we want to spend top dollar, does not translate into profits for Sports Integrity or the UD Store, hence the ability of a player to show up or not. Besides, many people will balk when asked to spend on big names. You and I would love Joe Montana or Brett Favre to show, and drop the hundreds to get their ink, but the majority of collectors would balk. Sad for us but its true, business dictates who shows up. Looking at sports integrity they have signings elsewhere with other big names, but it boils down to profitability and resale of the athletes autographs. Also, many of these big names are exclusives to HOF sports or GTSM, MAB sports etc. Deals have to be made for them to show. But if sports integrity can bring them I am game to pay for the autographs just like you Sergio.

How about bringing in the four newest Lakers? You could do one signing with Ebanks and Caracter and another one with Blake and Barnes.

  • #86

    Sports Integrity (Monday, 23 August 2010 20:58)

Hey all hope all is well. Just touching base. Tried to get Jabbar but it didnt work out at UD. Ill see if we can work something else out. Still no luck on Artest. Im trying to locate Gail Goodrich and Worthy will work out at some point.

Any thoughts on Mr Hockey Gordie Howe? I can get this completed but ticket prices will be approx $100 on flats and $200 on Large Items.....any feedback?

  • #87

    Magiclaker (Tuesday, 24 August 2010 23:04)

Any chance we can get Torii Hunter? In Orange County, Angels country would definitely show up for Troy Glaus. UD store/Sports Integrity can we get Troy Glaus? Just wondering because I have never actually seen him do a signing in recent memory. Gordie Howe would be great, he had a decent showing at HOF Sports a few years back. Gordie Howe very nice guy, and classy individual, would not mind seeing him. Also is there anyway we can get Eric Gordon of the Clippers, Norm Nixon, Rambis, Scott, Drexler, or Trevor Ariza? As always thank guys for hearing our requests.

  • #88

    Humberto (Thursday, 26 August 2010 09:44)

I don't claim to know the in's and out's of this business. I'm sure none of us are being negative in what we post, but as I stated in an earlier post I prefer Football Players. I know that networking and established relationships are the key to obtaining alot of these players and as stated, the ability to resell the players items on the secondary market. I'll just continue to monitor this page to see when NFL Players make an appearance at this location, and hopefully that will be soon. In the meantime, I think it's great to see that you listen to our suggestions, and are doing what you can to get these guys to appear........now get some Rams Players in here!

  • #92

You said Jerry West was not feaseable, WHY??? CSA is having him in their Oct. show! You guys are just amateurs compared to the big boys. You try to appeal to us by creating this blog, but have no intentions of acting on our desires! All you got for us is excuses and a bunch of C- players period! What a joke you guys are. I will stick to GTSM, HOF Sports, and Tristar productions!!!!!

I saw the same thing with Jerry West and CSA. But, I think it is because CSA is able to bring a bunch of dealers together at the show, so they are able to split the large appearance fee. With a single store appearance at Upper Deck, there is no doubt they would never recover the appearance fee from the public signing alone, and would probably take years to sell through the extra inventory they would have to take on, just to break even. At the same time, with the Upper Deck brand name, we collectors do expect the UD name to be able to get the bigger names to make store appearances. Seems like the local autograph shops in San Diego have brought in bigger names than Upper Deck over the past few years...Joe Montana, LaDanian Tomlinson, Tony Gwynn, Joe Frazier, Brandon Jennings, Philip Rivers, Jake Peavy, etc. But it is a matter of opinion.

Hey rafael he never said jerry west wasn't feaseable, he said he wasn't interested. Shows like csa and hof sports have built relationships with these players. Besides this was meant to be a post on who we would want to see @ the ud store not to hear u cry. U want jerry west, do mail order like everyone else.

    Magiclaker (Tuesday, 14 September 2010 16:46)

Hey guys (Sports Integrity and UD) I tried to get Derek Fisher's autograph last weekend at Cerritos Kia and it was a nightmare. My children were so disappointed. Fisher arrived late, he signed for many people that were cutting in line, and then he announced he would sign only his own 5x7 photo then signed anything towards the end. Suffice it to say that the only way I am going to get Fisher's autograph is from you guys. To see the disappointed children, families who drove from Santa Clarita, San Diego, and Fontana, just to be turned away and then the sheriff's dept. was called in to keep the hundreds of people in order after he left. What a mess. With that being said, can you reply to me and let me know what is in the works as far as the Lakers? Being a true Lakers fan and a fan of the setup at the UD store I have always supported and spoken highly of your business practices. I know lately, that many fans on this site have expressed their negative opinions (which respectfully, is their right and opinion) and we have seen much less communication than in the past. Many people that frequent this site have not experienced what is like to be turned away from a signing that they woke up early at 5:00 am to hopefully get lucky, but to be treated like crap when you show up and and have the sheriff called to control you and your adoring children, who just want to support their team and show their elementary school class a show and tell autograph of a Laker. Please do not be waivered by the opinions of a minority number of fans. Many fans like myself and many other appreciate your efforts and wish you the best. With that being said, are there any Lakers coming any time soon? Possibly any Angels like Vladimir Guerrero, Torii Hunter, or Troy Glaus? Any word on Pau Gasol or Artest? Bob x 2 as always any photos with the kids will be greatly appreciated!! The Southland is hungry for anything Lakers right now, make it happen and watch the comments on here change.

Well Rafael, if you think they are amateurs and are disappointed with who they can and cannot get, then either figure out how to get those players yourself, or just move on and stop bad mouthing Sports Integrity.

  • #106

    Rafael (Thursday, 16 September 2010 15:39)

So is it not feasible #58, or is it not interested #73. Do you get it? Doesn't it seem like the run around? That's just my point, you have your opinion, you value things differently than I do, I on the other hand have plenty of disposible income and demand nothing but the best service and quality. That includes top players and great customer service which I believe UD has demonstrated time and time again. Nothing against you, UD, or SI its simply business. Thanks UD for allowing us to voice our opinions & concerns even if we are constructively criticizing you. Maybe listening to these post may help you determine your target customers, maybe not.

Hey guys, First off I'd like to thank you for your enthusiasm and passion for the players that you want to see. I'd also like to thank you for making our website one of your frequent destinations on the web. Please know that we do read and take into consideration each and every post. We don't edit anything as long as it's kept in a professional manner. Does that mean that everybody is going to be all "sunshine & roses" towards what we're doing? No, but that's part of having an open forum and we're OK with that. I speak to Joe at Sports Integrity a couple of times a week trying to get personalities into our store with taking into consideration what is posted on this forum. There are some athletes that Joe just can't get due to no interest or costs involved. I can honestly say that Joe is constantly trying to get athletes into our store for signings. I'm sure you noticed that we haven't had much lately. What you don't know is that Joe has had a couple of athletes signed up and ready to go and at the last second doubled their fees. As much as Sports Integrity and Upper Deck would like to have these signings take place, it's just not feasible. The main reason is that these increases in appearance fees get passed onto you. We have a general idea, and so do you, of what is considered reasonable for a signing held at our store. If we feel that we can't satisfy both our customer and the promoter we can't go through with the signing. It's just the nature of the business. We know that there are some of you who would pay just about anything for a certain athlete, but most can't. So we're kind of in a "catch 22". Continue to shoot us ideas and between Sports Integrity and Upper Deck we'll try to make some things work. One thing that I can say we do is take into consideration the signing experience in our store. I can honestly say that it has improved. Is it perfect? No, but you know you can address any concerns with myself or with Sports Integrity. I've been to the signings where there are mass amounts of people and you come away disappointed due to not getting a signature or being pushed through like cattle. Our signings are on a smaller scale but the above does not happen. We're constantly trying to get better and with everybody's cooperation it can. Just know that we're working on it and are constantly trying to get athlete's into our store. Thanks for taking the time to read this and continue to voice your opinions. Bob Nevarez. Manager Upper Deck Retail

Why don't we try and avoid accusing Joe of being "all talk" and other comments? I think it would be better if we simply wait and see what happens. If he gets Gasol, I'll be happy for the whole year, if he doesn't then oh well.

Joe x 2 are good people, let us be a little nicer guys. We are not going to get anywhere harassing them. Lets keep the comments positive. The Fisher 0.4 and the Horry shot are finally hanging in the Laker "Man Cave" at home and if it was not for Joe x 2, they would just be things I want but have no hope of getting. I look foward to Gasol, any word on Worthy, Cooper, Scott, Gail Goodrich. Elgin Baylor, Matt Barnes, Chuck Person, or any other Lakers? Thanks for the responses Joe x 2.

Autoseeker and other fans, Upper Deck and Sports Integrity are constantly working on athletes to bring into our store. Unfortunately we've had some bad luck lately with players we "thought" we had agreements with. Last minute they doubled their prices. Obviously we weren't able to make their demands so we had to pass. But this is something that you fans don't want to hear and I don't blame you. All I can say is we're trying really hard and hopefully we'll have somebody for you soon. Bob Nevarez - Manager
