Athlete Signing FAQ:
What Is An Athlete Appearance/Signing Event?
A Signing Event is when Upper Deck Retail or a Co-Sponsor of Upper Deck Retail brings in a Sports Athlete to meet the public and get autographs (fee applies).
How Can I Get An Autograph?
All signings are ticketed events open to the public. Tickets are available on a first come first serve basis, while supplies last. Presale tickets are available and strongly encouraged if you plan on attending as signings can sell out at any time prior to the event date.
How Do I Know Who To Call?
Upper Deck Retail brings in many different players from many different sources. On each of our fliers that we produce a contact number will appear on the bottom portion. If its 714-898-8000, (We) Upper Deck Retail are selling the tickets and you can physically come into the store to purchase from the time we post the flier to day of the event (while supplies last). Or you can simply call us an do a phone order. IF It’s not that number – you would simply call the other number that is provided to you and contact that vendor to purchase your ticket via the phone.
Third Party/ Co-Sponsor Vendor?
All business transactions/communications done via one of our Third Party/Co-Sponsor Vendors are between you the customer and said Vendor.
How Many Tickets Are Available?
While we do try to accommodate everyone, we are limited to the amount of time athletes are in our store. Therefore, management reserves the right to limit ticket sales as is deemed necessary at any time.
Can I Pre-Order Tickets?
Yes, presale tickets are usually available for all signings. Management reserves the right to limit the number of presale tickets available. Please note that signings can sell out if all tickets are sold during pre-sell days, at that point no tickets would be available to purchase day of the event.
Can I return my Pre-Sale Ticket?
All Signing Tickets are FINAL SALE unless circumstances such as Late Player Showing or Player No Show Occur. You may upgrade your ticket to a Larger Item only if ticket sales are with same player or Vendor.
Can I Purchase Day of the Event?
Yes, as long as we haven’t sold out of pre-order tickets.
What Does The Price Of My Ticket Include?
The purchase of a ticket includes (one) Athlete Autograph per ticket purchased.
It also includes (while supplies last) Upper Deck Authentication performed onsite for your newly autographed items that where signed in our store that day.
What is Upper Deck Authentication?
Upper Deck is well know and respected for its 5-Step Process.
- Every time an Athlete puts his or her signature on an item, it is in the presence of a UDA Representative.
- An affirmation of the signing session is signed by both the Athlete and a UDA Representative. Now it’s Official, Indisputable, and in Writing.
- The UDA Hologram, which includes a unique serial number, is affixed to each item.
- That same hologram is affixed to a Certificate of Authenticity. The matching hologram gives further assurance that the item you have is a genuine piece of Authentic Memorabilia.
- Each piece of signed memorabilia is packaged with a registration card providing the consumer with an opportunity to register the item with UDA. Recently step 5 was updated with capabilities of completing online.
What Can I have Signed?
All signings are “Bring your own item”. Select items will be available for purchase from the Upper Deck Retail Store in limited quantities, while supplies last, at an additional price. Select items may be pre-ordered with the purchase of a presale ticket and can be picked up day of the event. Athletes and/or Management reserve the right to deny certain items from being signed at their discretion.
May I Take A Picture With The Athlete?
In order to accommodate everyone in a timely manner, pictures will not be allowed during every signing. It will be up to both Management and Athlete to determine on a case by case basis. Our main goal is to make sure everyone that paid for a ticket gets thier autograph first. If pictures are allowed at a signing, please remember to take only a quick picture and move on.
When can I Line Up (day of)?
All signings are first come, first served. Lines usually form about 2-3 hours before a signings stated start time. This does vary from signing to signing. The line forms in the alley way between No Rest For Bridget and Huntington Surf Shop (HSS).
Can I Just Come In To See The Athlete Without Having an item Signed?
No, Due to the large number of customers who attend each signing; only people holding a valid ticket for the signing will be allowed in the store once the signing has begun. This will allow the signing to run in a smoother manner and finish on time.
